Welcome to the 30th Medical Congress of the Armed Forces

A fifty - year milestone. A common course.

The starting point was a simple idea among a few colleagues. Its evolution was driven by the people who worked to turn that vision into reality. However, the true establishment of ISED as an institution here in Thessaloniki is a result of your presence and support throughout all these years.

Marking fifty-six years of uninterrupted presence, the Medical Congress of the Armed Forces remains a prominent field for the exchange of scientific knowledge and innovation within the armed forces.

Your active participation in the 30th Congress is the best guarantee for its continuous evolution and advancement.

Welcome Address from the President of the Organizing Committee

Dear Colleagues,

It is with great pleasure that I welcome you to the 30th Armed Forces Medical Congress (A.F.M.C.), an institution with a history spanning over fifty years. This year’s conference is hosted, as always, in Thessaloniki, where both the Military School of Corps Officers (SSAS) and the Aristotle University are based— in November 26 - 28, 2026, at the Makedonia Palace Hotel.

This year’s event holds special symbolism, as it coincides with the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Military Medical School (1926–2026), highlighting the long-standing and substantial contribution of the military medical corps to our country and society.

Under the title "Addressing the Crisis – Treating the Rare," the Congress aims of showcasing the contribution of the Armed Forces Medical Corps in managing health crises and to shed light on the significant, yet often less prominent, category of rare diseases.

Within this framework, contemporary diagnostic and therapeutic developments will be presented, demonstrating the continuous interaction between the Armed Forces, society, and current medical challenges.

At the same time, colleagues from all branches of the medical corps will actively contribute to the scientific program, covering a wide range of Medicine, Dentistry, Veterinary Medicine, and Nursing, through lectures, presentations, and clinical workshops. Our goal is to provide a modern, comprehensive, and substantial program that promotes science and highlights the high standards of the military medical services.

With the conviction that the 30th A.F.M.C.  will be a worthy continuation to its highly successful predecessors, I invite you to actively participate and support this event which has a perpetual contribution to the Greek scientific community.

Sincerely,

The President of the Organizing Committee

Polyzois Makras
Colonel (Medical Corps)
Endocrinologist
